Being in the public eye takes it toll on celebrity bodies so it’s so surprise some of them indulge in weird and often drastic diets to stay in shape or trim down for an important event, show or movie role. Whilst not many of us would be prepared for such extremity, these celebs are prepared to go to any lengths to drop those pounds:
1 – Beyonce
When she’s about to go on tour or has a movie role, Beyonce uses the Master Cleanse Diet to drop extra pounds. This diet involved drinking only a lemonade mixture made from lemons, cayenne pepper, maple syrup and water and no other food or liquids for 14 days. This liquid only diet helps to cleanse and detoxify the body but isn’t sustainable long term and has an undesirable laxative side effect.
2 – Adriana Lima
Being a Victoria’s Secret model comes with quite a hefty price tag and that means looking as slim as possible at their annual fashion show. 9 days before the show Lima sticks to a liquid diet consisting of only protein shakes, supplements and water and 24hr hours before the show she doesn’t drink anything at all in order to dry out her body to look as lean as possible.
3 – Madonna
Probably one of the most extreme diets we’ve come across is the air diet, as promoted by Madonna. Followers of this diet prepare a meal and lift the food to their mouths using a fork but before they take a bite, they simply stop and inhale, without actually eating anything. This diet originates from breatharianism, the belief that we can exist sole on air and water.
4 – Gwyneth Paltrow
The award winning actress is famous for her super healthy lifestyle but one of her more extreme diets is one she embarks on every year in the new year to detox out the end of year celebrations. Paltrow follows a water only diet for 7 days to completely cleanse and detox her body, as well as participating in daily yoga and pilates classes.
5 – Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston has one of the most enviable figures in Hollywood and it’s no secret she works hard for her incredible body. One of her best kept diet secrets is drinking lemon juice for breakfast to give her energy and keep hunger pangs at bay.
6 – Reese Witherspoon
The actress has famously credited her incredible body to the baby food diet, yep, that’s right, the baby food diet. Baby food is low in fat, salt and sugar and full of nutrients and the small portions are perfect for those who are watching their weight.
7 – Megan Fox
Another of Hollywood’s ultimate babes is actress Megan Fox, who puts her incredible figure down to drinking apple cider vinegar before every meal to avoid over eating and to dull her appetite. Fox has famously said she hates dieting and working out so this way of curbing her appetite suits her perfectly.
8 – Nicole Kidman
Whilst filming one of her leading roles, Kidman was asked if she could lose as much weight as possible and embarked on a diet that consisted solely of hard boiled eggs. She would have 1 egg for breakfast, 2 for lunch and another for dinner. Whilst the diet worked, it’s not sustainable in the long run.
9 – Katie Holmes
Katie’s secret to a healthy, trim body and lots of energy is eating only raw, organic vegetables including soups and salads to keep her full. The actress is known for snacking on raw vegetables on set and her amazing vegetable soups and stews which she makes herself from scratch. She avoids all fruits because of their high sugar content and occasionally snacks on almonds.
10 – Ashley Greene
The Twilight actress almost became anorexic by accident after the long hours shooting the vampire movie left her with little time to eat. She survived on water and as her character plays a female fighter so she gets a lot of cardio in too.
